This presentation gives an overview of the Hazelett® twin-belt caster and its past, present, and future use in the production of ETP copper rod. The technology was developed in the 1940s for casting lead strip and later adapted for use in the production of ETP copper rod. Today, there are over 40 active copper casting installations. The straight-through design, coupled with a tapered mold, offers an inherent advantage for casting alloyed or recycled copper products.
