Filtration via strainers or reticulated foam have been incorporated in many applications to achieve improvements in copper quality. Due to the low quality improvement or strainers and foam reticulates pore size restriction, many applications have been left without a path forward. This presentation explores the development of 3-D filters and their use in copper production. The flexibility and repeatability of a 3-D structure with the oxide removal of a reticulated foam has the potential to offer the best of both worlds in copper filtration.
