FRHC copper is either cast directly from the fire refining furnace into products using inline solutions or via offline solutions using FRHC ingots or blocks as cathode substitutes. This paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of both variants and the different furnace concepts used. Further, it shows a new TBRC fire refining concept, which allows a reduction in natural gas consumption of up to 40% for FRHC copper.
