Steel wiredrawing normally uses soap powder lubricants. This type of lubricant poses a major problem: dust. Its origin is not only due to the chemistry of the lubricant but often linked to its improper use or use in unsuitable conditions. Different dust generation factors are addressed along with solutions to significantly reduce the problem and methods that improve working conditions and limit the fire risk while reducing the global cost of using this type of lubricant.
